Micro Channel Heat Pipes

MCHPs are a hybrid HP-PHP solution that remains a simple and lightweight ultra-efficient cooling solution.

Lightweight, unique flat aluminium heat pipe design.
Customise length and bends to suit your application.
Hybrid design improves performance in different orientations.

How do Micro-Channel Heat Pipes work?

The Process Explained:

1. Heat conducts from the heat source, typically through a TIM into the vaporisation zone of the micro channel heat pipe.
2. This heat causes vaporisation of the fluid inside.
3. This vapour travels at speed up the centre of the pipe to the condensation zone, above the heat source.
4. This vapour cools down, condensing back into a liquid.
5. This liquid flows back down the inner surface of the heat pipes, typically via an internal surface structure (grooves).
6. The process continues indefinitely while heat is being applied.

Typical Applications

Regardless of the market segment the same applications require cooling.

Batteries
Batteries

Batteries

  • Prismatic Cell
  • Pouch Cell
  • Cylindrical Cell

Advancements in battery chemistry combined with demanding user needs such as fast charging are resulting in battery packs becoming increasingly difficult to thermally manage.

Embedded Electronics

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Electronic Control Units (ECU), CPU, GPU
  • Sensors: Radar, Lidar

Electronics are now embedded in almost every application, from vehicles and aircraft to industrial equipment and telecom infrastructure. As components shrink and power density rises, they produce more heat in tighter spaces where traditional cooling struggles.

Why Two-Phase?

Calyos believes in two-phase cooling because this technology brings a clear set of benefits to our customers

No Water

Calyos specializes in using a dielectric, green refrigerant, removing the risk of short-circuits in the event of damage.

No Maintenance

Our products are helium tested for tightness before they leave our factory, ensuring long lifetimes and zero maintenance.

100% Passive

Read More

All of our two-phase technologies harness the waste heat to vaporize a fluid, using the problem to power the solution.

No Pumps

By being 100% passive and having no pumps it removes the most common point of failure in liquid cooling systems.

High Performance

Vaporizing a fluid is an incredibly efficient process and results in systems with extremely low thermal resistances.

Calyos makes applying these two-phase technologies feasible.

By working side by side with our clients, Calyos can pair our knowledge and experience with our clients understanding of their application. This allows us to continue to develop innovative cooling systems that are viable in terms of mechanical design, cost and thermal performance for real-world applications.

Two-Phase Physics

Our experts enable us to produce
proprietary wick structures that maximize capillary pumping. We meticulously select fluids and fine-tune vaporization and condensation processes to deliver exceptional performance that Calyos is globally recognized for.

Modelling & Simulation

Calyos' advanced modelling capabilities integrate physics-based simulations with complex models derived from empirical test data. Two-phase modelling is not easy and this crucially ensures accuracy balancing theoretical precision and real-world validation.

System Design

Calyos' patents and exclusive know-how enable robust designs, that easily mechanically integrate with your application while remaining cost effective to manufacture, assemble, fill with fluid and install.

Manufacturing

In combination with our own facility and testing laboratory, Calyos has relationships with industrial partners in different regions and for different markets to meet the mass production needs for our clients.
